In this modern retelling of The Great Gatsby, Nic Carraway, a young woman from a wealthy background, embarks on an adventure in New York to gain life experience for her writing. Initially planning to make a living from copywriting and blogging, Nic’s journey takes unexpected turns as she becomes entangled in the lives of her cousin Danny, his wife T, and their intriguing neighbor Gatsby.

Nic’s introduction to this world begins with a boat house rental near Danny and T’s home on East Egg, recommended by the couple. During a supper at their place, Nic meets Jordan Baker, a fascinating golfer with whom she starts a relationship. The seemingly happy marriage between T and Danny unravels as Nic discovers T’s affair with a Puerto Rican lover named Miguel. T’s extravagant lifestyle, fueled by her wealth, contrasts sharply with Danny’s directionless nature. The couple’s relationship becomes increasingly complicated due to Miguel’s undocumented status and T’s prenup.

Nic becomes intrigued by her neighbor Gatsby, a notorious wellness guru and influencer known for hosting lavish parties. After a chance meeting, Gatsby and Nic become friends. Gatsby shares stories of her upbringing, including a marriage to a wealthy businessman named Dan Cody, which ended due to his predatory behavior. As Nic becomes more involved with Gatsby, she discovers a connection between Gatsby and Danny—they had dated in the past.
